One distinguishing characteristic of the Nemaha Valley School District is the enthusiastic support for young people and education. It is a common sight to see the schools filled to capacity with patrons for an evening activity.

The desire to achieve educationally is reflected at all grade levels as Nemaha Valley students annually score above the state and national averages on standardized tests.

Nemaha Valley Elementary and Middle School

In November 2009, the new elementary and middle school was finished and all classes were moved into the new building located at 110 North 11th Street. The old grade school building is now vacant and is currently for sale.

Nemaha Valley High School

Nemaha Valley High School was erected in 1969 at the time of redistricting within the state. NVHS is located just south of Highway 36, which runs east/west in northern Kansas. Nearly 200 students in grades 9-12 currently attend NVHS, making it a 2A classification. Nemaha Valley High School provides students the opportunity to fulfill more than just the high school graduation requirements. Students can also complete the Kansas Qualified Admissions Curriculum, the Kansas Scholars Curriculum, and the curriculum required by the NCAA.

The mission of Nemaha Valley High School is to motivate its students, academically, physically, creatively, and socially, and to enable them to communicate and function in a dynamic world.
